Stephen Hopkins Society Portrait of Stephen Hopkins

“Though my hand may shake, my heart is pure”….STEPHEN HOPKINS, 1776

Stephen Hopkins, colonial governor of Rhode Island, spent more than 40 years of his life in public service and was a signer of the Declaration of Independence.

Many medical historians believe his signature on the Declaration – second in size only to that of John Hancock – is evidence that he had a disabling condition, possibly cerebral palsy.

The Stephen Hopkins Society at MedStar NRH welcomes donors who contribute $1,000 or more each calendar year to the Stephen Hopkins Fund. Our founding fathers pledged that we are all entitled to “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” At MedStar NRH, we work every day to make this pledge a reality by helping our patients regain independence and improve the quality of their lives. It is only with the support of our friends that we are able to keep our pledge.

As a member, you will receive:

  • An invitation to special events and discounted tickets at select events such as the Gala Victory Awards
