Naratriptan and Headaches

NRH is currently participating in a multi-center study examining the effectiveness of the triptan drup naratriptan in relieving the headaches associated with mild traumatic brain injury. ZeroG Study

We are conducting a study to determine whether intensive, over-ground gait training using a body-weight support system leads to improved walking ability than conventional physical therapy in individuals with acute stroke.

To be eligible, a participant should meet the following criteria:

  • be age 18 or older
  • have had a stroke within the last 30 days
  • be able to stand for at least one minute with maximal assistance or less
  • be free of severe osteoporosis and/or uncontrolled pain
  • be able to follow simple commands
  • have a weight of 300 pounds or less

    PROTECT DC: Preventing Recurrence of Thromboembolic Events Through Coordinated Treatment in the District of Columbia

    PROTECT DC seeks to reduce the recurrence of stroke among stroke survivors through the assistance of a Stroke Navigator. (A navigator is a community health worker trained to “navigate” the health care system.) The Stroke Navigator will assist patients with medication management, diet and exercise plans, and other behaviors proven to reduce the risk of stroke.

    To be eligible, a participant should meet the following criteria:

  • be age 18 or older
  • have had a stroke or TIA within the past 30 days
  • currently hospitalized due to an ischemic stroke or TIA
  • live in the D.C. area

    I-CARE (Interdisciplinary Comprehensive Arm Rehabilitation Evaluation) Study

    We are conducting a study to determine how therapy helps to improve arm and hand function within 1 to 3 months after a stroke.

    To be eligible, a participant should meet the following criteria:

  • have had a stroke within the past three months
  • have demonstrated upper-extremity motor impairments
  • be able to follow simple commands
  • have no prior upper-extremity problems
  • have no ataxia, neglect or severe pain in the upper extremity

    Assistive Technology & Mobility Study

    We are investigating the impact of recent changes in policy regarding wheelchairs, including how many functional wheelchairs an individual owns.

    To be eligible, a participant should meet the following criteria:

    • be age 18 or older
    • have had a spinal cord injury (any level) for at least 12 months
    • not be ambulatory
