Adam Hallberlin, a 17-year-old D.C. resident, was in a car accident and as a result suffered extensive traumatic brain injury (TBI). The doctors who initially evaluated Adam upon arrival at the emergency room told his parents that his TBI was inoperable. Doctors weren’t sure if he would survive his injuries.
The NRH Brain Injury Team aided Adam in achieving what some might call a miracle - helping him regain much of what was lost from his TBI. When Adam finished his therapy at NRH, he was walking, talking and interacting. This was something his parents thought was nearly impossible following his car accident. Adam’s team at NRH never gave up, even though many thought there was no hope. Adam exemplifies what the doctors, nurses and therapists strive to achieve for every patient who enters the hospital.
