   Howard A. Gilmer, D.O.     


Howard A. Gilmer, D.O., joined NRH as the Medical Director and Assistant Chief of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Union Memorial in Baltimore, MD. He is now an attending physician here at NRH.

Dr. Gilmer earned an undergraduate degree in biology from Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, MA, attended medical school and earned a D.O. from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, NY, completed an internship at Long Beach Medical Center in Long Beach, NY, and his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) at NRH in 2001.

His years of experience include serving as a partner in private practice in PM&R, with appointments at the Salisbury Spine Center, the Salisbury Genesis Nursing Home, Atlantic General Hospital, Peninsula Regional Medical Center, and HealthSouth Chesapeake Rehabilitation Hospital.

Dr. Gilmer holds several professional affiliations, has conducted research with transference value to his position here at NRH and is a knowledgeable speaker on topics ranging from arthritis to orthotics and prosthetics.
